So if the Son sets you free, you really will be free.
In the United States of America, we celebrate the freedom that the country enjoys on July 4th. The day is generally filled with family, food, and fireworks.
Because of Adam’s sin, we all have a sin nature (Romans 3:23) and deserve to be punished because of it (Romans 6:23). There is hope. That hope is found in Jesus. Jesus says in John 8:31-32 “…, If you continue in my word, you really are my disciples. You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” We need to be in God’s Word if we are truly Jesus’ disciples and as we read His Word, we know and understand the truth of God, which is found in Jesus.
We can be trapped in our sin, or we can believe in Jesus and be free from that sin. In John 14:6 Jesus tells us that He is “the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me“. Jesus is the only way to true freedom.
