We are providing this resource for you to have “Awana at Home” as we are unable to meet during this time. We hope this helps you work with your child in their Cubbie handbook.
Lesson: Jesus Calls His Disciples
Verse: Mark 1:17 (ESV): And Jesus said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you become fishers of men.”
(Short version is in bold)
The Big Apple: Jesus is the Savior, the Son of God. He called the disciples to follow Him and become fishers of men (or people). We can be fishers of men too, who tell others about the Savior.
Coming in Time: Disciple Feet
Trace the cubbie’s feet on a piece of poster board, cardboard, or whatever you may have on hand.
Cut them out and let your child color them. Use pipe cleaners, twine, yarn, or similar to make Sandal straps, or shoe laces. You can write Mark 1:17 on an index card, or similar and paste to the sandal. Talk about what it means to follow Jesus.

Playtime: Flying Fish
Use a sheet or a small blanket and pretend that it is a fishing net and the cubbie and you are the fishermen. Use small stuffed animals as fish and place them on the sheet, or whatever you are using. Gently flop them around, trying to keep the fish in the net.
Prayer: This can be the normal time you might pray or to wrap up the lesson. Ask your child if they have anything to thank God for, or to pray for and then have a time of prayer, encouraging your child to pray as well.
Take time to learn the verse with your child. You may sign their handbook.
Thank you for taking time to work with your child in their Cubbie handbook.
