A few weeks ago the elementary aged children were in a series called Agents In Motion and each week they learned about another impact zone. One week they learned about impacting the world. They were each given a globe bank (similar to the picture) to remind them to pray for the world and also so they put money in it to give so others could have help impacting the world. While this may just be a globe to many, this past Sunday, a child came up to me with his globe bank filled with pennies for missions and it filled my heart with joy. This child had taken the lesson home and focused on it. They didn’t forget it when they left the theatre.
While I often do not know how much parents work to disciple their children at home with the resources we provide, I urge you to take time during the week to go over the lessons they learn in children’s church, during the family service and in Awana. I truly want to build a ministry at Hanover Fellowship that works with families, helping you as you disciple your children. If there is anything I might be able to do to help, please do not hesitate to ask.
Added Note 03/10/2009:
I’ve heard of another child who every time they see change on the floor or somewhere, they say that it has to go toward missions. Praise God that these children are grasping and applying the concepts being taught!
