We are providing this resource for you to have “Awana at Home” as we are unable to meet during this time. We hope this helps you work with your child in their Cubbie handbook.

Lesson: Future King David Defeats Goliath

Verse: Psalm 56:11 (ESV), “In God I will trust; I shall not be afraid. What can man do to me? (long version includes the italicized portion)

The Big Apple: The Israelites forgot God’s promise to help them fight their enemies if they obeyed and trusted Him. David remembered God’s promise and defeated Goliath. When we are scared, we should trust in God and remember His promises from Scripture.

Activity/Game: Draw a picture of a giant, and a large head (or get a picture of a head). Place the head about 9’6″ high, or as high as you are able in your home. Have a small ball, or something, to act as the stone that David slung to Goliath’s forehead. This will show your child how difficult it would have been to have hit Goliath in the forehead and how David trusted God.
