Joy comes with many different definitions. Let’s take a quick look at some of them:

Definition 1

An acronym showing us how we should live and focus on people. Jesus, Others, You.
That comes from Matthew 22:34-40

But when the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together. And one of them, a lawyer, asked him a question to test him. “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.”

Definition 2

Joy is a fruit of the Spirit. Galatians 5:22-23, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.”

Definition 3

For our purpose this month, we will define Joy, as finding a way to be happy, even when things don’t go your way.

Throughout this month we’ll be looking at Joy. It’s not an emotion, joy is a fruit of the Spirit, and so joy is connected to our relationship with God. The closer we get to God, the more our fruit, like Joy, will grow.

There’s a reason we can still have joy, even when we don’t think so, and His name is Jesus!
